History 

Founded in 1991, Philips Remote Control Systems (RCS) began as an independent unit within Royal Philips Electronics to support the company's remote control solution requirements. Over the years, we have expanded to provide both standard and tailor-made wireless input and control solutions for major electronics manufacturers worldwide. Today, Philips RCS prides ourselves as a preferred partner to leading companies in thehome entertainment domain.

Being a pioneer in remote control technologies, we have developed many industry standards today, such as the RC5, RC6 and RCMM protocols. Since 1999, we have successfully positioned ourselves as a premium player in the touch-screen universal remote control for consumers with the Pronto product range. In the business-to-business segment, Philips RCS is an industry partner of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) across the consumer electronics, broadcast/set-top box and personal computing industries.

All our activities are also integrated through a process-driven structure that ensures seamless delivery from product creation to product fulfillment. After a business restructuring within Philips, Philips Remote Control Systems has been renamed into Philips Home Control.
